So I perused my blog this morning. I was so amazed and I realized it’s been a year since I posted something fun and amazing.

The truth is — I have been very busy. School and work has consumed my time. I don’t think I even had the chance to gallivant this cool town yet. School is occupying my mind and my schedule. I wish I could say “a guy is taking up my time”…sadly, it isn’t true. I don’t even have time to entertain guys or even go out for an hour of fun.

I will try and update more as time permits me. I look forward to reading more amusing article and blogs 🙂

Have a fabulous week folks.

A Happy Christmas to all…

Merry Christmas

It’s that time of year once again. Honestly, it is my favourite time of the year. Why not?  It’s that time when people give in act of kindness. There are those who give because they have plenty. There are those who give for status, in their friends list. There are those who give because it’s good for their business and there are those for tax reasons.

I give because it makes me happy when I make people happy. I give because I’m kind and I have plenty. I give because I was taught to share the things I have when people have less. I give because it makes the people in this world happy when we share.

I thank each and everyone of you who gave and shared a part of your happiness to those who are less fortunate this season. May we all continue the act of kindness in our every day journey thru life.

Have a wonderful and happy holiday’s everyone!

The Joy of Autumn

Colours In The Woods

Autumn is by far my favourite season of the year. Not only it’s the most colourful time of the year but the weather is crisp, cool and refreshing. Just the way I like it.

Last week, I had the privilege of roaming the streets of Northwest. Unfortunately, I have forgotten to carry along my camera. It is my best friend this time of year, however, I am lucky enough to have my Note5 handy. So here are some photos I’d like to share.

Red in bloom

I was totally surprised to see such beautiful shades of Red, Brown, Yellow, Pink and Green. The vibrant colours reminded me of the film “Fantasia” I enjoyed watching as a young child. I was lucky to have spent time in the downtown area.

What do you think? Isn’t autumn one of the best time of year? I have more photos to share but I wanted this blog short as possible.

Have a great weekened everyone! Thank you for stopping by.

Weekend Trip

Tags

The season’s changing and the sky’s been clearing up. My family can’t wait to enjoy our usual trips to the beach. It’s not even the weekend yet and family members are too busy making plans for Saturday. Nagy Veronika (short for nagymama, grandma in Hungarian) wants to visit the beach. This will be her first trip to the beach, she came to visit us here in America from Hungary. Then my neni Dzsenifer (aunt) wants to visit the muzeu (short for muzeumok, museum). I realise they both have great ideas for the weekend, so I suggested we all go to the beach this Saturday and the muzeu on Sunday. Luckily, everyone agreed, which left me speechless. You see, no one really cares what I would suggest but when I use any of their suggestions, bham.. it’s all good.

The weekend was latvanyos (spectacular). My family enjoyed our trip to the beach. My tvere (short for testvere- brother) and I buried nagy in the sand and carved her into a sello (mermaid). She looked gyonyoru (beautiful). Unfortunate for me I didn’t bring any camera and left my phone in the van, pestilence!! I am hoping my tvere would send me kepek (photos) of all memorable moments with nagy Veronika. She is one funny nagy once you get to know her.

So we ended the day with nagy’s delicious cooking of palacsinta, perogies, schnitzel and veal stew were just amazing. I have never tried hungarian food cooked the way nagy Veronika does. Hands down she’s the legjobb szakacs (best chef) in the house.

While we were finishing supper, I asked nagy Veronika “what’s the best hungarian desert you’ve ever made?”. Nagy looked at me like she has seen a ghost. I was puzzled?!?! She explained to me in her broken english – hungarian accent, “When I was kislany (a little girl), I remembered my apa Vikktor (father) would pick me up every Friday from school and he would take me to our favorite kavezo (cafe). There he would let me have my fill of my favorite desszert. Dobostorta, it’s this deliciously rich and elegant cake stacked with several layers of csokolade es vajkrem (chocolate and buttercream) and top with a thin crust of karamella (caramel). The next week, I would have the Rigo Jancsi, it’s this cube shaped csokolades piskota csoki kremmel in the center (chocolate sponge cake filled with chocolate cream). It is so delicious, I would eat so many of them. Then the following week, I would have Esterhazy Torta, a rich layered almond and walnut cake képzelet fondant máz (with fancy fondant glaze).” Nagy went on and on and everyone commented and shared all their memories of the past. I sat there watching everyone’s fascination about hungarian desszert and not realizing it will come to this. Finally, supper has ended and the customary desszert wine to follow. There were several fruit wines to choose from, I personally like the red currant wines they are mild and soft in taste and texture.

Later that evening, I googled nagy’s famous desszert, and this is what I found.

Right here is a collage of nagy’s favorite Dobostorta-

Thank you google for providing these wonderful photos, without you I wouldn’t have any idea how these desszert would have looked like.

Chain accident

Tags

,

The weather has changed and today, it is a rainy day. After weeks of dry, humid heat, at last Zeus graced the land with rain. Unfortunate for those peope who doesn’t know how to drive in the rain, they create the accident. Here I am stuck on the bridge amongst the unlucky people.

image

Luckily there were no fatalities. Just a chain of unfortunate people who weren’t paying attention to the road and the car ahead of them.

image

Slowly, three cars were revealed up ahead and the collision was severe but the drivers came out fine, with minor cuts and bruises.

Car accidents are common every where. Due to drivers who don’t pay attention to the road, they certainly create these chain of freaky accidents.

Food Carts

I was told about the food carts in downtown. Today, I am going to ventiure and see what I can find. I would like to try something different. Here we go…

Out of all the carts in this side of strip, “Taste of Fiji” is what appeals to me at the moment. They surely have some colorful drinks and delicious photos of their menu. I was getting too hungry just by looking at the photos and so I ended up with a chicken palau, a kind of fried rice and a strawberry lassi to drink.

One must taste their cooking-

I love the drinks the most.

I have googled this beautiful island of Fiji and I am so elated it is one of the most beautiful places I wamted to visit someday. I will continue to eat one dish a week and hopefully, will find a favorite dish of all time.

Jo napot kivanok!!! (Greetings in hungarian)- Thank you for visiting my site. There are a few of us here that will be posting and share our experiences in the United States.

Here are a couple of photos taken with my phablet. As I was driving along the Avenue, I was surprised to see these guys falkep under their colorful esernyo. Pardon me, things like these fascinates me.

image

This location does get a lot of traffic… and i mean traffic-

image

This one is new to me. I didn’t realise you can bring out your mattress out on the sidewalk and turn it into your bedroom. (joking aside)

There are a few things I enjoy about the people here in the America. There’s no words to explain or describe the way they live their life. There are a few customs and traditions I will never get used to.
